Code of Conduct

CMHA adheres to the BC Hockey and Hockey Canda Codes of Conduct as well as the BC Hockey Zero Tolerance Policy. 

Every Parent and Player on the team must have acknowledged and signed respectively the Parent Contract and Player Contract.  Each team is required to:

1. Have a team meeting at which team officials go over the code of conduct and expectations for the team. 
2. Have each player sign the Team Contract and Code of Fair Play (or, for children unable to do so, have a guardian explain the expectations to them)
3. Have a Team Manager who will keep this on file for the duration of the season after which it should be shredded.

EXCERPT FROM CMHA POLICY AND PROCEDURES MANUAL

CMHA strives to achieve and maintain the highest standards of sportsmanship in ice hockey and to provide a safe and positive sport environment. Our Association abides by the fair play codes set forth by the BCAHA and Hockey Canada, which can be accessed at www.bcaha.org. Every participant; player, coach, referee, official, league organizer, parent, or spectator has a responsibility to behave in a respectable and sportsmanlike manner. The CMHA has a progressive system of discipline, which applies to all members. Any participant(s) conducting themselves in a manner unbecoming of the Association may be subject to a disciplinary review.

All coaches, team officials, players, and parents of the Association are required to read, understand, and sign their respective Fair Play Code Contract prior to the commencement of play.  Each team manager is required to keep a copy of the Team Contract and Code of Fair Play available for review during the course of the season.

Examples of conduct subject to discipline are (but not limited to):

•   Making inappropriate physical contact with any player, coach, official, league representative, spectator, or arena personnel;
•   Disputing or arguing with the decision of an official, coach, league organizer, spectator, or player, whether on or off the ice;
•   Entering the locker/dressing room of an opposing team or obstructing their access to or exit from said room and arena;
•   Entering the officials' locker/dressing room or obstructing their access to or exit from said room and arena;
•   Using obscene, racist, abusive, or foul language, swearing or the use of obscene, racist, or abusive gestures on or off the ice;
•   Unauthorized entry to the ice surface;
•   Pounding or climbing on the glass;
•   Throwing any object onto the ice surface, into the player area(s), or at another individual;
•   Defacing or damaging property belonging to any individual, team, association, or arena;
•   Refusing to leave a facility once advised to do so by any official or league organizer;
•   Inciting any person(s) to become involved in any of the behaviors listed above; and
•   Any other conduct not in compliance with the requirements set out in the PCAHA Rule Book Section H(7-12) and the BCAHA Zero Tolerance Policy.

It should be noted that there may be additional, supplemental discipline by CMHA for:

•   Players receiving a BCAHA or PCAHA Notification of Suspension for Multiple Serious Penalties; and

·   Coaches/Team Officials receiving BCAHA/PCAHA Notification of Suspension.
